Today the class went outside two times for “sun tracking”. Once early this morning and once around noon when the sun was at its highest point in the sky. They were asked to stand in the same spot and trace their shadow. They used their shadow data and the sun’s position in the sky to predict where their shadow would be next. The purpose of this activity is to make students aware that the sun does not actually move across the sky… instead the EARTH is moving which causes the change in our shadows throughout the day. We will continue to investigate and discuss this concept throughout the next several weeks.
Your child will be bringing home a scholastic book order form today in their homework folder. If you wish to order any books from the book order you may do so by filling out and returning the form to school OR ordering online. If you wish to order online you can use the class code found at the top of the book order. Please let me know if you have any questions. All orders need to be turned in by 9/19.
