On behalf of the Juliette Low PTO, we would like to extend a warm welcome to all new and returning families. The Juliette Low Community is made up of three important components: the staff, the students, and the parents. We have a fantastic staff here at Juliette Low and they work tirelessly to provide the best education possible for our students. The students, in turn, put forth their best effort to be our shining stars everyday and it is up to the parents to do our part to support them both.

Our Mission as a PTO is as follows:

  • To enrich the student experience through fun and educational activities and events that are not otherwise available through the daily curriculum and the district budget. Examples include: Book Fair, Box Tops, Cultural Arts Assemblies, Explore More Day, Fun Run, and Kindergarten & Fifth grade t-shirts
  • To build community among children, parents, teachers, staff, and the neighborhood. Examples include: classroom parties and party boxes, Teacher Appreciation Week, Digital School Buzz Book, Restaurant Nights/Food Trucks, 5th Grade choice field trip, Yearbook, and Spirit Wear
  • To improve the physical environment of the school and its surroundings or within the classroom.

We all want the same thing for our children: that they receive the best education possible in a warm, nurturing environment. By sharing our talents we will continue to make Juliette Low a place where we “Make Learning Happen Together.”

All parents are automatically members of the PTO and are encouraged to attend meetings and check Facebook/Twitter updates. Meetings are a great way to get to know other parents and meet staff. It is also a forum for your suggestions, questions, and ideas. Suggestions are always welcome so please come and share your ideas with us!

Come participate in the meetings, in person in the LRC.  The first is Monday, September 19th.

PTO event committee descriptions

Looking to get involved?  Here are the many events PTO has helped to facilitate in the past; if one of these interests you, please reach out via email and let us know.  We are ALWAYS looking for more volunteers.  If you have an idea for an event not listed here, please contact us with it – we are always open to new ways of building our Juliette Low Community and tapping into the many talents of our families.  Reach out to someone you might already know on the PTO Board or by using this email: jlowpto@gmail.com

Fun Run: This was a new fundraiser in 2019 that encourages exercise while having fun with friends. Students run laps outside on the field (or in the gym) for the pledges they raised to help Juliette Low. Volunteer to help set up or to cheer on the students and tally their running laps. (typically in early fall)

Box Tops Coordinator: This volunteer facilitates the communication and tracking of digital Box Tops.  One hundred percent of the proceeds go to the PTO; our goal this year is $100 – we can do it!

Explore More Day:  Explore More Day is an afternoon event held at the end of the school year that gives all students an opportunity to participate in three workshops presented by parents, teachers, professionals, and community members.  These workshops include crafts, sports, hobbies, and professions. This day is a favorite of our students due to the highly engaging activities. Many volunteers are needed to assist activity leaders and escort students to their activity.  (typically occurs in May)

Fifth Grade Special Events:  We celebrate our fifth graders!  From helping to make a special field trip possible, to providing the students with Class of 20XX T-Shirts, we strive to make these students feel extra-awesome during their final year at Juliette Low.  Volunteers are needed for various tasks at differing times throughout the year.

Food Trucks/Restaurant Nights:  These events are a great way to bring the Juliette Low and broader community together to enjoy some great food, support local businesses, and contribute funds to PTO.  The chair of these events secures the restaurants, creates fliers, and facilitates securing funds. (ongoing throughout the year)

Fun Fair: Please join us for a family night of outdoor fun, food, games, raffles and prizes in a carnival-type event at school. Students love seeing their teachers and administrators joining in on the fun. Don’t miss this opportunity to create memories with your child that you won’t forget. Volunteers are needed to run games, sell tickets, etc.  This is one of our largest events and we need many volunteers for this!  (typically occurs in the fall)

Gift Card Fundraiser:  These committee chairs facilitate Juliette Low’s RaiseRight gift card program.  These volunteers send forms to families, collect orders and payments, submit orders to RaiseRight, and put together each family’s order in preparation for distribution. PTO earns a portion of the funds from each order.  (occurs several times throughout the year, starting in fall; will be offering both e-gift cards and physical cards this year)

Pumpkin Patch Movie Night:  Are you looking for a fun fall family event? Bring your family out to pick up your pre-ordered pumpkin, candy apples, donuts and enjoy a free movie in the park. Volunteers are needed to set-up and hand out pre-ordered pumpkins, donuts and candy apples. (typically held in mid-October)

Room Parents Coordinator:  This committee chair makes sure each classroom has a parent room representative to help facilitate PTO sponsored events throughout the year and facilitates communication with each classroom rep at important times throughout the school year.  Consider volunteering to be your child’s classroom Room Parent Representative this year!

Scholastic Book Fair:  Keep your child’s love of reading alive by visiting the annual Juliette Low Book Fair. When you visit your child’s teacher for conferences, stop by the library to purchase a book. The money goes back to the school to enhance the school library, teacher’s libraries and birthday books for the students. Volunteers are needed to organize and restock books.

School Supply Kit:  This committee chair organizes needed supplies for the upcoming school year, facilitates order forms and orders, and assists with distribution.  Volunteers who enjoy organizing should consider this opportunity!

Spirit Wear:  Parent volunteers help communicate and facilitate Juliette Low spirit wear orders for students, families, and staff.

Teacher Appreciation:  During times throughout the year such as Goal Setting Conferences, Winter Conferences, and Teacher Appreciation Week, PTO makes an extra effort to let the staff at Juliette Low know just how much we care about them.  Volunteers are needed to help purchase and deliver treats and breakfast items and send special wishes from their families during these times.

Yearbook:  A Juliette Low parent currently sponsors the Juliette Low Yearbook and is always in need of volunteers to submit photos of any school activity you happen to be able to capture.  You can also help support by purchasing a yearbook.
