Welcome to the Juliette Low PTO! The Juliette Low community is made up of three important components: the staff, the students, and the parents. The fantastic staff at Juliette Low work tirelessly to provide the best education possible for our students. The students, in turn, put forth their best effort to be our shining stars every day. It is up to the parents to do our part to support them both. By sharing our talents, we will continue to make Juliette Low a place where we “Make Learning Happen Together.”

PTO membership is FREE to parents/guardians and all are automatically members of the PTO. Members are encouraged to attend meetings as they are a great way to get to know other parents and meet staff. It is also a forum for your suggestions, questions, and ideas. Meetings are in person in the school library. Next Meeting: Wednesday, November 8th at 6:30pm.

PTO event committee descriptions

Looking to get involved? There are ways to help no matter how much time you have to give. Below is a list of some of our annual and semi-annual events. If you are interested in facilitating one of them (or even part of one), reach out via email at jlowpto@gmail.com. Here are the many events PTO has helped to facilitate in the past; if one of these interests you, please reach out via email and let us know.

We are ALWAYS looking for more volunteers.  If you have an idea for an event not listed here, please let us know by e-mail or attending a meeting – we are always open to new ways of building our Juliette Low community and tapping into the many talents of our families .  Reach out to someone you might already know on the PTO Board or by using this email: jlowpto@gmail.com

Fun Run: Students run laps outside on the field (or in the gym) for the pledges they raised to help Juliette Low; every child participates regardless of funds raised. One coordinator prepares the event in advance, many Volunteers to help set up or to cheer on the students and tally their running laps the day of. (typically in early fall)

Box Tops Coordinator: Families submit receipts via the Box Tops app at home; 100% of the proceeds go to the PTO at no additional cost to families. One coordinator facilitates communication with families and tracking of our account.

Explore More Day: Explore More Day is an afternoon event held at the end of the school year that gives all students an opportunity to participate in workshops presented by parents, teachers, professionals, and community members.  These workshops include crafts, sports, hobbies, and professions. Two coordinators prepare the event in advance, many volunteers are needed to assist activity leaders and escort students to their activity the day of the event.  (typically occurs in May)

Fifth Grade Special Events: We celebrate our fifth graders providing them with a special field trip, Class of 20XX T-shirts, and making them feel extra awesome during their final year at Juliette Low!  One coordinator facilitates, and many volunteers throughout the year help with various tasks.

Food Trucks/Restaurant Nights: These events bring the broader community together to enjoy food, support local businesses, and contribute a portion of proceeds to the PTO at no additional cost to families. One coordinator secures the restaurants, creates flyers, and manages funds. (ongoing throughout the year)

Fun Fair: An evening of family fun, food, games, raffles and prizes in a carnival-type event at school. Students love seeing their teachers and administrators joining in on the fun at this can’t-miss memory-making event. This is one of our biggest events of the year. One coordinator secures entertainment and prizes, many volunteers are needed to run games, sell tickets, prepare prizes, etc. both before and the day of the event.  (typically occurs in the fall)

Gift Card Fundraiser: Purchase gift cards at face value through the RaiseRight gift card sales throughout the year. A portion of the sale goes back to the PTO at no additional cost to families. One coordinator facilitates the sale, collects payments, and distributes cards. (ongoing throughout the year)

Pumpkin Patch Movie Night: An evening of family fun with an outdoor (weather permitting) movie on the big screen. Pre-order pumpkins, candy apples, and donuts to enjoy while you watch or just come enjoy a FREE movie. One coordinator prepares the event in advance, several volunteers are needed to set-up and hand out pre-ordered pumpkins, donuts and candy apples the day of the event. (typically held in mid-October)

Room Parents Coordinator: Each classroom has a room parent representative to manage the two classroom parties (Halloween and Valentine’s Day) and coordinate room gifts at winter break and the end of the school year. One Coordinator makes sure each classroom has a parent room representative and facilitates communication with each classroom rep at important times throughout the school year. Consider volunteering to be your child’s classroom Room Parent Representative this year!

Scholastic Book Fair: During parent-teacher conferences in the fall, stop by the Scholastic Book Fair in the school library to purchase a book. Proceeds benefit the school library, teachers’ classroom libraries, and provide birthday books for students. One coordinator prepares the event in advance, several volunteers set up and take down the fair as well as cover the cash register at the sale. (typically held at October conferences)

School Supply Kit: School supply kits are available for purchase at the end of the school year and early in the summer for the following school year. The kits cover most of the school supplies on the grade level lists and are delivered to the classroom before school supply drop-off. One coordinator creates flyers, facilitates orders, and assists with distribution before school supply drop-off.

Spirit Wear:  Spirit Wear is available year-round through First Place Spiritwear. One coordinator advertises and facilitates orders for students, teachers, and staff.

Teacher Appreciation: Several times throughout the year, such as Conferences and Teacher Appreciation Week, PTO makes an extra effort to let the staff at Juliette Low know just how much we appreciate them with treats, food, and recognition.  One coordinator facilitates treats and recognition throughout the year and a dinner during fall conferences. Parents/Guardians contribute what they can to the treats and recognition. (ongoing throughout the year)

Yearbook: Annual yearbooks are available for purchase at cost. Photos of any students at school activities can be submitted to jlowpto@gmail.com. One coordinator creates the yearbook using online software and sends out flyers to facilitate sales.
