The class was very excited to receive their very first pen-pal letter yesterday!  Earlier this school year, we wrote letters to a 3rd grade class in Glenview.  We received our first response back from them yesterday. Students were enthusiastic about writing another letter to them.  Pen-pal writing allows the class to experience authentic writing to an audience different than their teacher or classmate.  They will become better readers and writers through this pen-pal letter exchange. It will help them build fluency, understand questioning, and develop a better sense of narrative writing.
