Letter from the Principal

Lily Smith Thumb

Dear Juliette Low Families,

It is my distinct honor and privilege to serve as the principal of Juliette Low Elementary. With ten years of classroom experience and thirteen years in educational administration, I am deeply committed to fostering excellence in our school community.

Juliette Low Elementary is committed to inclusive education. Whether your child participates in our Spanish Dual Language Program, our Educational Life Skills Program, or General Education, all students are valued members of the Juliette Low community. Our school environment celebrates linguistic diversity, accommodates varied learning styles, and creates opportunities for students to learn from one another’s unique perspectives and abilities.

Our school vision reflects our core values: At Juliette Low we believe in creating a safe and inclusive learning community where everyone values each other, communicates, and shows empathy, kindness, and respect. We maintain high academic expectations for all students while providing the individualized support necessary for each child to reach their full potential.

Our dedicated faculty and staff demonstrate unwavering commitment to student success. They create learning environments where every child understands their inherent worth and capability. Our educators recognize and nurture each student’s unique strengths, viewing challenges as opportunities for growth and never compromising their belief in what our students can achieve.

My leadership philosophy centers on servant leadership and collaborative problem-solving. I am committed to serving our students, families, and broader community by maintaining open communication, welcoming feedback, and working together to address challenges and celebrate successes. You will find me actively engaged throughout our school, as I believe in visible, accessible leadership.

My guiding principle remains “¡Sí se puede! Let’s go!” – a testament to my belief that with determination, support, and high expectations, our students can accomplish anything they set their minds to achieve. This philosophy of possibility permeates our school culture: Yes, we can learn at high levels! Yes, we can grow beyond our current abilities! Yes, we can support one another in meaningful ways! Yes, we can create an exceptional learning environment where students discover just how capable, talented, and powerful they truly are!

I look forward to partnering with you throughout the academic year as we work together to ensure every child at Juliette Low Elementary thrives academically, socially, and emotionally. Together, we will continue building a school community where every student feels valued, every family feels welcomed, and every dream is nurtured.

Thank you for entrusting us with your most precious gifts – your children.

Sincerely,

Lily Smith
